\nDecember 2025 | Family | 3 contributions
\n \nReview: The Stargazing tour with Tony and Cuz was the absolute highlight of our recent trip to Palm Springs. The tour lived up to all the reviews, but until you experience it for yourself there is no way to describe how what you see and hear will impact you. Tony\'s stories will change the way you view the sky, and how you view your place in the universe. What I saw with the night vision goggles was way better than any telescope views I\'ve had on other stargazing tours - the goggles allow you to see the true number of stars in the sky (almost too many to comprehend).
\nThe zero-gravity chairs, the poncho-like snuggie to keep you warm, and the provided snacks all contribute to keeping you comfortable and allow you to focus on the sky as much as possible without distraction.
\nMy family and I all thought this was one of the coolest things we have ever done in our travels - it is truly an experience not to be missed!

\n \nReview: The star tour with Tony and Cuz was amazing! I wasn\'t sure what to expect, but you arrive at dusk and there\'s a beautiful candle lit pathway that leads to the star gazing area. It was a chilly evening, but Tony has snuggies available for everyone, which is a nice touch; they kept us very warm. Shortly after introductions, Tony passed out a pair of night vision goggles to everyone and, (OMG!!), it was was a huge eye opener! You\'re able to see so many more stars, satellites, and anything else that may be in the night sky! While looking at anything and everything through the goggles, Tony is talking story and answering any questions you may have about anything space or universe related. I learned some very cool and interesting facts about the night sky and how it has been used throughout the centuries.
\nThey also have a pair of high powered binoculars that we used to watch the moon rise over the horizon; you could see every crater on the moon with the binoculars. I recommend going around the time of a full moon, so you can see the full lit up portion of the moon.
\nThere\'s also a very high powered telescope that you can look through to see nebulas, stars, and galaxies! The telescope takes long exposure photographs, and you\'re gifted with the pictures once the tour has completed.
\nHighly recommend this star tour! We\'ll definitely be back once the seasons change and there\'s different stars in the night sky to learn about!

\n \nReview: We travel frequently and have had the opportunity to do and see some amazing things around the world and this Star Gazing experience was among the most unique and memorable. There is SO MUCH TO LIKE:
\n-Tony\'s expertise explaining and interpretation of the stars and constellations -the very cool, once-in-a-lifetime chance to look at the sky through military grade night vision goggles -the warm fuzzy hooded blanket-like ponchos they provide that are like a big warm hug (even if you brought tons of layers) -the wonderful follow-up and directions to the spot in Joshua Tree national park -the friendly and helpful assistant "cuz" -the small group (9 people max) -the great gravity chairs so you can look up while laying back -the amazing souvenir photo they take and send you for free
\nWhat it\'s like-this is a lot more than an ordinary star tour. Yes they have big telescopes and show you cool cigar galaxies, planets and moons, but in addition Tony weaves together stories and mythology from global cultures while pointing out features in the sky. Part graduate astronomy class, part philosophy part geography-listening and learning was truly mesmerizing.
\nIf you have the chance to do this, don\'t hesitate you will NOT regret the experience. The only negative is that the time just flew by-we could have listened to the stories for another hour or two beyond the 90 minute schedule.

\n \nReview: What a wonderful experience. A unique chance to see the stars like they should be seen. I hesitated to book because it\'s on the pricier side, and hey, can\'t you look at stars in Joshua Tree yourself? But it was worth every penny and more. The stories, the knowledge, the wonder. Overall, an excellent -7 Sisters STARS – wonderful time. Thank you to Tony and "Cuz" who were so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, accommodating, they kept us warm, facinated, and engaged the whole time. My favorites were the Andromeda Galaxy, the surface of the moon (WOW), the "Golden Gate Bridge" and especially the parting gift – it\'s awesome but don\'t want to spoil the surprise. Notes – dress warm, they provide additional layers and comfy chairs but wear warm clothes, screen shot or print directions, so you know exactly where you are doing. Your phone will be zilch-help while you are out there. However, once you are there you are very thoroughly well taken care of.

\n \nReview: I knew I had arranged an experience with a professional crew when they changed the meeting date five days in advance because of forecasted weather. On arrival Tony enthusiastically greeted us, along with Cuz. Then it began. We were instantly transported to native american folklore as we gazed the constellations. This was not a "see that? that\'s alpha centuri" experience. This was a connection of people on earth with the constellations that have been there for eons. Native American, Hawaiian, Polynesian... When to hunt. When winter starts. Tony was non-stop. While Tony talked story, Cuz set up the telescope to view the nebulas. Real life Smithsonian Institute stuff. Did you know you can use your fist in the sky as a "GPS" to the stars? I can keep going; It\'s been over 2 weeks since I met Tony and Cuz, and I still feel the energy that was generated. I am looking forward to another experience with Tony. I suggest you get on their list.

\n \nReview: I had such an amazing time on this trip. Tony and Cuz created an absolutely magical experience. The night vision goggles gave a glimpse into the sky that would otherwise have been impossible. Tony passed on his knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors with such generosity. I have never been able to remember constellations, but he had such a unique way of imparting information about star formations that I still remember what he taught us. His approach to teaching mixes a childlike curiosity with an age old wisdom that we have lost over time. All in all, this is an experience I highly recommend. I hope to go again soon! To top it off, at the end, we all got to take photos and in my solo pic, the camera captured a shooting star!

The experience was top notch from start to finish and don\'t get me started about all the information TONY knew.... Well for sure do this again... A little tip, you should do it when the moon is at its lowest in light as you will see so so much more an deeper into space.....

\n \nReview: If you are looking to learn the stars let an astronomer show you. If you want to KNOW the stars have Tony teach you. Viewing the night sky as ancient civilizations did is the background of Tony\'s presentation. Many of the stories from the aboriginal, Inca, Aztec, native Hawaiian and American Indian cultures have been lost through the ages. Tony\'s specialty is to track down the stories that remain and teach them to us before they are also lost forever. Only in this way will these stories be available for future generations of stargazers. Using military grade night vision googles in addition to the stories that Tony weaves, you will learn to look at the stars in the sky with a greater appreciation of the role they played over the history of human existence.

June J - "A Magical Stargazing Experience in Joshua Tree" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
\nSeptember 8, 2024
\n \nReview: This was my first time joining a stargazing tour, and I was very fortunate to meet a guide in Joshua Tree who is deeply passionate about the night sky. His tour is dedicated to restoring the ancient connection between humans and the stars.
\nAfter electricity was invented, 97% of the light in the universe became invisible to the naked eye. The starry sky we see today is completely different from what our ancestors once saw.
\nThe guide shared four incredible photos taken with a military-grade telescope, but the most fascinating part of the night was using a light-intensifying device. Unlike a telescope, it doesn\'t magnify the stars—it simply enhances visible light. Through it, I discovered just how alive the night sky is: satellites moving across space, stars flickering at different speeds and intensities. Under such a sky, it\'s impossible to imagine ancient people not believing in constellations, creating myths, or following seasonal rhythms.
\nHe also told us many stories about the stars. For example, he described an image of three children sitting in a canoe, with three freshly caught fish hanging from its side. When this scene appears in the northern hemisphere, it signals the arrival of summer. I couldn\'t remember which stars he mentioned at the time, but after looking it up later, I believe it was Orion and Sirius.
\nThe relationship between ancient people and nature is truly magical. Looking up at the vast cosmos, it\'s hard not to feel like a child of nature. The universe offered patterns that people turned into rhythms, which guided farming, hunting, and daily life year after year.
\nIt made me wonder: who is more attached to certainty—modern people or the ancients? I think it\'s us, modern people. Surrounded by steel and concrete, everything feels permanent. Electricity, water, and food supplies are increasingly stable and controlled. Yet when modern people enter a no-service zone like Joshua Tree, they often feel helpless—unaware that within this seeming uncertainty lies a profound sense of safety.

\n \nReview: I so appreciated Tony\'s humor, knowledge of sky stories from many different cultures, and overall organization (which I hear is from his partner Molli - he gives her all the credit lol). I have always been fascinated by the night sky, and this experience reawakened a part of me that has been buried under time and less access to the night sky due to light pollution. It was amazing to see the sky lit up, not unlike the one I gazed at as a child. It\'s an awe-inspiring experience. The tilt back chairs, the stories of the sky, thoughtful parting gifts, and the night vision googles were well thought out and really added such a level of joy to the night. It\'s also fun to be out in the desert, at night, with others who are also having a new experience. All ages, sizes, and orientations will enjoy this tour. Now when I look at the sky, I will always know where I am at. Thanks Tony and Molli!

\n \nReview: This was hands down one of the best tours I have ever experienced. It is a bit daunting to think about finding the tour group off a Joshua Tree parking lot at night, but the logistics and communication by Molly and Tony were exceptional, with Cuz onsite. They are also quick responders to any questions. Every aspect of the experience has been perfected.
\nI don\'t know much about astronomy and figured this tour would help point out some constellations for us. It was SO much more, full of Tony\'s impassioned stories from different cultures about the stars . His enthusiasm is contagious and knowledge is impressive. The tour is totally unscripted yet packed with great stories and just the right amount of interaction. It is a great and inspiring story how the business was developed. They offer drinks and snacks as well as blankets and gravity chairs, with flameless candles lighting where to step.
\nThe two other highlights for us were the UFO military grade goggles that make the stars and planets pop as they did for our ancestors, prior to light pollution. The equipment is clearly state of the art. The slow exposure portrait Tony takes at the end is absolutely beautiful and frameable. I left wanting to do further research on the stars, and would repeat these tours again for sure.

Tony had so many stories about how different stars were viewed in different cultures. You can tell they have been doing this for a while because Tony had a story for every question that came up. This was definitely the favorite part of our trip. Communication was great. Directions were clear on where to meet them.

\n \nReview: 10/10 recommend doing this when visiting Joshua Tree. Before this I experience I thought I had already seen the magic of the stars in JT\'s dark sky. After I realized I\'d only seen a fraction of what\'s going on up there…. the professional-grade night vision goggles and high intensity telescopes enabled me to see everything- and it\'s a lot! Saw Jupiter and its moons, Mars, all the constellations, shooting stars, satellites, space junk, and so many tiny stars invisible to the naked eye. Tony\'s knowledge and enthusiasm is vast and we learned through his engaging stories and the laser pointer he used to beam a light up to everything he talked about. On a practical note, this business is so well-run. Communication and instructions were clear and timely. The set-up couldn\'t be cozier – blankets, zero-gravity chairs to gaze comfortably, and small candles lighting the pathways for ambience and safety. They even sent complimentary souvenir photos the next day. On a practical note, it\'s only steps from the parking area, making it accessible for those with mobility challenges.

Easily one of the best things we’ve ever done as a family. Tony felt like an old friend. His knowledge of the stars and the night sky was incredible and his abilities as a storyteller were magical. He lifted the stars off the page and brought them to life in the most wonderful way. We came to Joshua Tree to experience dark skies, and we will leave feeling connected to the universe in a way we never have before.

We are not going to be all scientific and stare into a telescope hearing a bunch of facts, figures, math and scientific speak that is truly amazing info and a woderful experience BUT it is not all there is to learn from the sky.
